Across Java is a typing, platformer indie video game that follow Gatotkaca, our main protagonist on his journey towards Bima. Across Java followed a story of Gatotkaca’s moments before his eventual demise, though the time of that said demise was uncertain. Was it when the Konta’s bow shot his chest or was it at the road ? If it was during his journey, when was it, exactly ? A dying man’s eyes vision could get blurry at times. Even if Gatotkaca knew the moment of his death, was he certain that time worked properly. Across the journey, he would saw different things, different backgrounds. Things are different, yet still so similar. Gatotkaca felt the world was moving back and forth so quickly, or was it all in his mind ? Is there even still blood flowing through that head of Gatotkaca ?

Since Gatotkaca was born, he was always had an odd sense of violence and destruction. It was especially odd an unwelcoming, especially compared to his father, Bima, who was known as a kind ruler. Some feared him, though still had positive outlook since he was compared towards his own father. Bima himself was just like Gatotkaca, big and strong, though had a soft heart and great loyalty to his families. Gatotkaca eventually fought with his father and both of them dominated the battlefield with their strength and willingness to protect their allies.

Gatotkaca was not as kind as his father and Gatotkaca realized this. One day, the infirmary was lit by their flames. Yelling occured from all directions. Gatotkaca wanted his old father to rest, not join the battlefield. Bima on the other hand, felt he still got what it takes. Gatotkaca forced his father to stay, as he had two reasons of doing so. First and foremost was his unwillingness to let his father risked his life on the battlefield. It was a love from Gatotkaca’s heart, but was unable to express it in the ways other than his violence. Though, it was not only of love, but Gatotkaca’s egoistic desire. Bima was known to be a soft gentle warrior, trying his hardest to spare even his enemies.

Gatotkaca refused to spare his enemies and deep down enjoyed killing them. Deep down, Bima knew both of the reasons this debate even happened in the first place. Gatotkaca lived his whole life next to Bima, after all. Eventually, Bima gave up. He refused to fight with his beloved son and gave up his position as a fighter on the battlefield. Bima became a general and ruled his army behind the massive tent. Gatotkaca on the other hand, led the army in the battlefield. Battles were fought and Gatotkaca continued on his campaign. Gatotkaca defeated everyone who stood on his way.

Eventually, there was one war where things fell out differently. Gatotkaca fought in a civil war and things looked smooth sailing at the start. But, every gift had its taker. Gatotkaca’s gift was not perfect as he had a weakness. A weapon, called Konta, was able to pierced through his skin and weakened him. On the fourteenth day of the civil war, Gatotkaca fought off Korawa’s army at the beach and a marksman, named Karna, shot an arrow imbued with Konta’s string. A perfect shot, piercing through Gatotkaca’s chest. Gatotkaca was unable to use his almighty gift and was forced to run.

No matter how far and how long he ran, one thing was certain. Death was chasing him, one way or another. Gatotkaca was only barely faster than Karna and the world had flipped against him. Doors were keeping him away from proceeding, but he had to barge onward. Amidst the war, Gatotkaca gained an important information from Korawa’s leader. “Father... Wait for me...” Gatotkaca mumbled as he continued sprinting ahead. Eventually, Gatotkaca went through the final door.
